Zeal For God – Perfect Zeal (365/196)

The world encourages us to pursue our own desires. Jesus reveals that true zeal is a burning desire to please the Father and do His will.
"My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work." (John 4:34)
From the beginning of His ministry to His final breath on the cross, Jesus lived with one unwavering desire - to glorify the Father. Even in Gethsemane, when the weight of the cross pressed upon Him, He prayed, "Not as I will, but as You will." His obedience was never reluctant or mechanical. It flowed from perfect love for the Father. Jesus delighted in the Father's will. His zeal was not merely seen in moments of public ministry but in His quiet, costly surrender to the Father's purpose.
Judas walked with Jesus but loved something else more. While Jesus delighted in the Father's will, Judas pursued personal gain, reminding us that wholehearted zeal cannot coexist with a divided heart.
Unlike every other person in this series, Jesus is not simply an example for us to imitate. Through His obedient life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection, He secured our salvation and gave us His Spirit, enabling us to love the Father with undivided hearts.
Pause and Ponder
Is there an area of my life where I am resisting the Father's will?
Do I delight in obeying God, or do I merely endure it?
How can I surrender my plans more fully to Christ today?
As we abide in Christ, may His perfect zeal become the pattern and power for our own obedience.
Father, forgive me for the ways my heart is divided, and fill me with Your Spirit so that I may delight in Your will above my own. Amen
