Faithfulness – Faithfulness in Waiting (365/185)

Waiting is one of God's greatest classrooms. It reveals whether our confidence rests in changing circumstances or in God’s unchanging character.
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful." (Hebrews 10:23)
Simeon knew what it meant to wait. In Luke 2 he is described as righteous and devout, who lived with the expectation that God would fulfill His promise of sending the Messiah (v25-35). Though Israel lived under Roman rule and hope seemed distant, Simeon remained steadfast. His waiting was not passive resignation but active trust, shaped by the certainty that God always keeps His word. At the appointed time, God fulfilled His promise, and Simeon held in his arms the long-awaited Savior.
The Israelites, in contrast, stood on the threshold of God's promise but allowed fear to overwhelm their faith. Instead of moving forward in obedience, they turned back in unbelief, and their rebellion resulted in forty years of waiting and wandering (Numbers 13-14).
Simeon teaches us to trust God's promises while we wait; the Israelites warn us not to let unbelief keep us from promises already within reach.
Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of every promise of God (2 Corinthians 1:20). Because He is faithful, we can endure seasons of uncertainty with confidence and peace.
Pause and Ponder
What am I waiting for that is testing my trust in God?
Am I focusing more on my obstacles or on God's faithfulness?
How can I actively trust Christ while I wait for His timing?
Waiting does not mean God is absent, it often means He is preparing our hearts while He accomplishes His perfect plan.
Faithful Father, strengthen me to remain faithful in seasons of waiting, fix my eyes on Christ, and rest in Your perfect timing. Amen.
