Audio - Choosing His Presence

We live in a world that celebrates confidence, independence, and self-made success. We are taught to manage, push through, and figure things out on our own. Asking for help can feel like weakness. Beneath busy schedules and capable appearances, many hearts are tired from carrying what only God was meant to hold.

The Bible in Numbers says, “Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth” (Numbers 12:3, NKJV). At first, that sounds surprising for a man who confronted Pharaoh and led Israel through the Red Sea. Yet Moses’ humility was evident in his deep dependence on God. In Exodus, we see this clearly when Moses refuses to move forward without the Lord’s presence: If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here” (Exodus 33:15).

Moses understood that effectiveness does not flow from confidence in self, but ever living in the awareness of God’s presence. This is the heart of biblical humility. It is not thinking less of ourselves, but trusting God more than ourselves—and choosing His presence over every other measure of success. Where pride says, “I can handle this,” Jesus reminds us, “Apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Pause and Ponder

  1. What does Moses’ humility reveal about God’s desire to walk with His people?

  2. Where am I managing life instead of depending on Christ?

  3. Who around me needs to see the humility of Jesus through my life and words?

An unshaken life is not about self-reliance but daily dependence on the crucified and risen Christ.

Lord Jesus, teach me to depend on You more and more each day. Take away my self-reliance and deepen my desire for Your presence. Amen.
