Loyalty – Loyal to the End (365/231)
Who stays when you disappoint them or have nothing to offer? Human loyalty can falter, but Jesus’ love never withdraws when we fail. Jesus remains.
“Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.” (John 13:1)
Jesus, the Son of God, knew Judas would betray Him, Peter would deny Him and His disciples would scatter. He knew the rejection, suffering and death awaiting Him. Yet He did not withdraw His love, but loved His own to the end. In Gethsemane, facing the anguish of the cross, He surrendered His will to the Father: “Not my will, but yours, be done” (Luke 22:42).
Jesus, the Good Shepherd, who willingly laid down His life for His sheep (John 10:11–18), loved us not because we had first proved ourselves worthy, but “while we were still sinners” (Romans 5:8).
Christ's love and loyalty does not rise and fall with our performance. He continues to intercede for us (Hebrews 7:25), and nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:35–39), “if we are faithless, he remains faithful” (2 Timothy 2:13). Christ is not only our example of loyalty; He is its source.
Pause and Ponder
Where is Christ calling me to remain loyal, even when I am weary or disappointed?
How does Christ’s loyal love shape the way I respond when others fail me?
Who is God asking me to remain loyal to, even when it is difficult or costly?
The One who loved us to the end invites us to become people who remain.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your faithfulness. When my love grows weak, anchor me in Yours and help me remain faithful to You and to those You have entrusted to me. Amen.
