Peace – Peace that Knows God Has Heard (365/99)

When your situation hasn’t changed, can your heart still find rest?
In 1 Samuel 1, Hannah stands in deep anguish—misunderstood, burdened, and weary from longing. Scripture says she was “in bitterness of soul… and wept in anguish” (v.10). Even her silent prayers were misread by the priest. Yet in that place of vulnerability, a simple word is spoken: “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition” (v.17).
Nothing around her changes—but everything within her does. Hannah rises, eats, and her face is no longer downcast. What brought this shift? Not the answer, but the assurance that God has heard her. Peace settles in—not because her prayer is fulfilled, but because it is received. She releases her burden, stops striving, and rests in the One who sees and remembers.
This is the essence of unshaken peace—not found in immediate outcomes, but in confident trust. It is the peace Jesus invites us into: not rooted in resolution, but in relationship. He hears every cry, carries every burden, and works in His perfect time. Through the cross, He made a way for us to come boldly to God, to lay down our anxieties, and to rest in His care.
Pause and Ponder
What does this passage reveal about God as One who hears and gives peace?
What burden am I still holding instead of entrusting it fully to God?
Whom can I encourage today to trust God and rest in His timing?
Hannah’s story reminds us: peace begins the moment we trust that God has heard us.

Lord Jesus, teach me to trust You even before I see answers. Help me release my burdens into Your hands and rest in Your perfect will knowing You are at work. Amen.
