Joy – His Joy in You (365/98)

Are you trying to find joy—or are you trying to hold on to it?
In John 15:11, Jesus makes a stunning promise: “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” This is not a passing feeling. It is His joy—given, planted, and sustained within us.
Jesus speaks these words in the context of the vine and branches. The call is simple yet demanding: remain in Him. Stay connected through love expressed in obedience. Just as Jesus abides in the Father’s love by keeping His commands, we are invited into that same rhythm—love, obedience, joy. Jesus shows us the pathway: love leads to obedience, and obedience leads to joy. Not a fragile happiness based on circumstances, but a deep, steady gladness rooted in pleasing God.
This joy is radically different. Jesus held it even as He moved toward the cross. It is the same joy that sustained Paul in prison and strengthened believers through suffering. It is not the absence of hardship—it is the presence of Christ within it. This joy is not something we manufacture. It is His joy in us. The joy of Christ is placed within those who abide in Him. As we walk in obedience joy rises—not because life is easy, but because we are aligned with Him.
Pause and Ponder
What does this passage reveal about Jesus as the giver and source of true joy?
In what areas am I resisting obedience, and how is that affecting my joy?
Whom can I reflect Christ’s joy by walking in faithful obedience today?
Abide in Him—and His joy will remain in you.

Lord Jesus, teach me to abide in Your love and align my heart with Yours, so that my joy may be full and unshaken in every season. Amen.
