Devotion – Heart Undivided (365/155)

The true direction of your life is determined not by where you stand, but by where your heart is looking. You can walk with God with your feet while your heart still lingers somewhere else.
When the spies returned from Canaan, ten focused on giants and fortified cities. Caleb and Joshua, however, trusted in God’s faithfulness and might and believed that if God had promised the land, then God would surely give it (Numbers 13:30). The Bible repeatedly says that Caleb "followed the Lord fully" and the Lord promises, “But My servant Caleb, …I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it” (Numbers 14:24).
On the other hand, as judgment fell upon Sodom, Lot’s wife had a clear command: flee and do not look back. But look back she did and ended up as a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:17-26). Her backward glance revealed a divided heart.
Isaiah 50:7 speaks of the Messiah who set His face like flint, resolutely embracing the Father's will all the way to the cross (Luke 9:51). Likewise, Jesus calls His followers to wholehearted, undivided devotion, warning that anyone who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:62).
Pause and Ponder
Is there something from my old life that still competes for my devotion to Christ?
Am I trusting God's promises like Caleb or clinging to my own security like Lot's wife?
What would wholehearted devotion to God look like in my circumstances today?
Devoted hearts are not marked by perfection but by a heart that keeps following God wholeheartedly.

Faithful God, give me an undivided heart that follows You completely. Help me let go of anything that competes with my devotion to You Lord Jesus. Amen.
