Righteousness – Unshakeable Righteousness (365/175)

Our confidence is often built on what we have accomplished - our education, reputation, experience, or even our spiritual disciplines. While these things have value, the challenge is when they quietly become the foundation of our identity.
Before meeting Jesus, Saul of Tarsus had every reason to boast. He possessed impeccable religious credentials, faithfully observed the law, and considered himself blameless according to its standards (Philippians 3:4-6). Yet the very zeal that earned him admiration also led him to persecute the followers of Christ (Acts 9:1-2). However, when Saul encountered the risen Christ on the Damascus road, everything changed. The man who had once trusted in his own religious credentials came to realise that true righteousness could never be earned. Looking back, Paul wrote: "…and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith." (Philippians 3:9)
Our standing before God rests on Christ and not on our performance. Having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). That is a righteousness that cannot be shaken.
Pause and Ponder
Where am I tempted to place my confidence - in my achievements or in Christ alone?
Are there areas where I am still trying to prove my worth before God or others?
How does knowing that I am clothed in Christ's righteousness change the way I face today's challenges?
May our confidence never rest in what we have done, but in what Christ has finished for us.
Gracious Savior, thank You for giving me a righteousness I could never earn. Keep me from trusting in my own achievements and help me to rest securely in Christ alone. Amen.
