Integrity – Integrity Fears God Above All (365/179)

The fear of people leads to compromise; the fear of God produces unwavering integrity. When we value God's approval above human acceptance, we find the courage to obey Him whatever the cost.
In the opening chapter of Exodus, there is a short but powerful account. When Pharaoh commanded the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, to kill every Hebrew baby boy at birth, they faced an impossible choice - obey the most powerful ruler on earth or obey the Lord. The Bible tells us, “But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive.” (v17). Because they feared God, they refused Pharaoh’s command and preserved the lives of the Hebrew children. God honored their obedience by establishing their households (v15–21).
Through the courageous stand of Shiprah and Puah, God preserved the generation from which Moses would arise to deliver Israel.
Jesus Christ perfectly embodied this integrity. He "humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross" (Philippians 2:8). Though pressured, rejected, and condemned, He never wavered from His Father's will. As we abide in Him, the Holy Spirit gives us the courage to fear God above human approval and to obey Him with unwavering integrity.
Pause and Ponder
Whose approval most influences my decisions-God's or people's?
Where am I tempted to compromise because I fear the opinions or authority of others?
What step of obedience is God calling me to take today, regardless of the cost?
Integrity fears God above all because His authority never fails.
Lord, give me a heart that fears You above every human voice and strengthen me to obey You with courage and integrity. Amen.
