Sacrifice – Sacrifice of Privilege (365/72)

What would you do if following God meant giving up comfort, status, and security?
Raised in Pharaoh’s palace, Moses had access to privilege, power, and the finest life Egypt could offer. Yet when he came of age, Moses made a remarkable decision. “By faith Moses… refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin.” (Hebrews 11:24–25)
Moses could easily have remained in the palace. Few would have questioned him. But he recognised where he truly belonged—with God’s people, though it meant sacrifice.
When Moses first tried to act on behalf of his people in his own strength, he was forced to flee Egypt, followed by forty quiet years in the wilderness of Midian—years that may have seemed hidden or wasted. Yet they were anything but. In God’s time, the former prince of Egypt would become the leader who, under God’s mighty hand, brought the Israelites out of bondage.
Jesus left the glory of heaven, willingly laying aside His privilege to come among us and suffer for our salvation (Philippians 2:6–8). The One who calls us to surrender has already led the way through His own ultimate sacrifice.
Pause and Ponder
Are there comforts or privileges in your life that make it difficult to fully follow God’s call?
How does Moses’ story encourage you to trust God even during seasons of hidden preparation?
Whose life of sacrifice has strengthened your faith? Would you thank God for them today?
God often prepares us in unseen places so we can faithfully serve Him in His time.

Lord, give me the courage to release comforts that keep me from surrendering to Your calling for my life and to trust You through times of quiet preparation. Amen.
Hebrews 11:21-27
