Peace – Peace in God’s Redemption (365/103)

What would give you such peace that you could say, “I am ready”? Ready to rest, ready to let go, ready even to face the end of life without fear or regret?
An elderly, devout man named Simeon, filled with the Holy Spirit, holds a baby—and finds complete peace.. Looking at Jesus, he declares, “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace… for my eyes have seen Your salvation.” (Luke 2:29-30)
No throne, no victory, no outward display of glory—just a child in his arms. Yet Simeon sees what others miss: God has kept His promise. Simeon’s peace is not rooted in long life, fulfilled ambitions, or resolved circumstances. It is rooted in a Person—Jesus. Having seen the Saviour, he knows his life is complete. There is nothing more to strive for, nothing more to secure. His heart rests.
Simeon recognises that this salvation is not only for Israel, but for all people—a light to the nations. The peace he experiences is both personal and rooted in the certainty of God’s redemptive plan. A deep peace that comes from knowing that God has fulfilled His greatest promise in Christ.
We often search for peace in outcomes—when things settle, when prayers are answered, when life feels secure. But Simeon shows us a different way. Peace comes from seeing Jesus clearly and trusting Him completely.
Pause and Ponder
What does this passage reveal about Jesus as the source of true peace?
What am I still holding on to instead of resting fully in Christ?
Whom can I encourage today to find peace in Jesus alone?
Peace is not found in having everything resolved, but in having Him in everything.

Lord Jesus, help me to see You clearly and trust You fully. Free me from striving and teach me to rest in You. Amen.
