Audio - Hope While Waiting

Are you waiting today—for an answer, a breakthrough, a change that feels long overdue? Do you feel  forgotten, overlooked, or stuck in a place you never chose?

Genesis 39 records Joseph’s story. Beloved by his father yet betrayed by his brothers, Joseph was sold into slavery and taken far from home. Life dealt him blow after blow. And yet, instead of bitterness, he chose faithfulness. Then came the next injustice—falsely accused and thrown into prison. Forgotten. Unseen. Waiting.

Joseph held on to hope. He served faithfully, even helping others in prison. The Bible tells us that “The LORD was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor…” (v21). When he interpreted dreams for the butler and the baker, Joseph hoped to be remembered, but he was forgotten for two more years (Genesis 40:23).

Yet, at God’s appointed time, in a moment, Joseph was called from the prison to the palace to interpret Pharaoh’s dream, which he did with God’s help. He was lifted to a place of great authority—second only to Pharaoh (Genesis 41:44). What years of waiting could not accomplish, God fulfilled in His perfect timing.

The Lord reminds us “For My thoughts are not your thoughts… nor are your ways My ways” (Isaiah 55:8–9, NKJV).

Pause and Ponder

  • What does Joseph’s journey teach me about trusting God in seasons of delay?

  • What does hope look like when God seems silent and answers are delayed?

  • Whom can I encourage today to hold on to hope in God’s perfect timing?

Hope is not the absence of delay - it is faith in God through it, trusting that God is working—even in the waiting.

Lord, You see my waiting and know my heart. Help me to remain faithful and trust You are working, even when I cannot see it. Amen.
