Identity in Christ – Identity Rooted in "Who" You Are (365/128)

Many of us are trapped by our past, shame, guilt, regret, and labels that seem impossible to overcome. While self-help programs teach us how to improve ourselves, the gospel offers something far greater: a new identity in Christ.
The Bible reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
When we place our faith in Christ, God does not simply patch up our old lives. He makes us a new creation. Our identity is no longer defined by our past, our performance, or our struggles. The old self, marked by sin, self-reliance, and self-centeredness is crucified with Christ. God gives us a new heart, new desires, and a new way of seeing the world.
While as believers we still struggle with temptation, we are no longer slaves to sin. The Holy Spirit is at work, transforming our desires, redirecting our focus to Christ, and shaping us to live with an eternal perspective.
Pause and Ponder
Am I allowing my past failures, regrets, or labels to define me more than God's declaration that I am a new creation in Christ?
What evidence of God's transforming work can I see in my attitudes, desires, or relationships today?
Who do I know that is longing for a fresh start and needs to hear the good news of Jesus?
When the enemy reminds you of who you were, remember who you are. You are a new creation in Christ, and God is still at work in you.

Father, thank You for making me a new creation in Christ. Help me to live from my new identity rather than my old patterns and failures. Amen.
