Identity in Christ – Identity Based on Our Response (365/133)

Do you feel distant from God? Has life become busy and your heart distracted? Do you find yourself relying more on your own strength than on His presence?
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock." Revelation 3:20
Jesus spoke these words to a lukewarm church. Though the Laodacian church belonged to Him, they had allowed self-sufficiency and complacency to weaken their fellowship with Him. Yet His response was not rejection but invitation. He stood at the door and knocked, patiently calling them back into communion.
The same invitation comes to us today. He invites us to open the door of our hearts afresh, to surrender our distractions, self-reliance, fears, and competing priorities. He longs to share life with us in a deep and ongoing relationship.
And for those who respond, an extraordinary promise awaits. Jesus declares that those who overcome will sit with Him on His throne, sharing in His victory and glory (v21). The One who calls us into fellowship today promises eternal inheritance tomorrow.
Pause and Ponder
Is there any area of my life where I have left Jesus standing outside, waiting for my attention and surrender?
What practical step can I take today to deepen my fellowship with Christ?
How can my response to Christ encourage someone else to draw nearer to Him?
As we conclude this series on identity, remember that knowing who you are in Christ is only the beginning. God's declarations of your identity are invitations to a deeper relationship with Him. So the question is "How will you respond?"
Lord Jesus, thank You for pursuing me with Your steadfast love and reminding me who I am in You. Help me to respond to You in faith, surrender, and obedience. Amen.
