Faith – Faith That Perseveres (365/136)

Anyone can trust God for a moment. The challenge is trusting Him when the answer seems delayed, the obstacles remain, and the years keep passing.
In Numbers 13, Joshua and Caleb were the only two of the twelve spies sent by Moses who brought back a report shaped by faith rather than fear. While the other spies focused on the giants, the fortified cities, and their own inadequacy, Caleb quieted the people before Moses and declared, "Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it" (v30). Caleb saw the same obstacles as everyone else, but faith gave him a different spirit that the Lord later testified, "But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it." (Numbers 14:24).
The wilderness generation wandered for forty years and never entered the land they feared to possess. Caleb, however, at eighty-five years, stood before Joshua with the same confidence he had as a young man. Forty-five years of wandering did not make him bitter, years of delay did not diminish his faith, nor did advancing age did not weaken his resolve. He was still ready to claim all that God had promised (Joshua 14:10-12)
Pause and Ponder
Is there a promise, calling, or burden from God that I have grown weary of trusting Him for?
Am I allowing present obstacles to overshadow God's past faithfulness?
Whom can I encourage today to keep trusting God even when the journey seems long?
God's delays are not His denials. What He promises, He is faithful to fulfill.
Father, strengthen my heart to trust You through seasons of waiting and uncertainty. Help me like Caleb to persevere in my faith, Amen.
