Audio - Trust Because God's Wisdom Exceeds Mine

Have you ever wished you could see the future before making a decision? We want answers before we trust and certainty before we obey.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding." (Proverbs 3:5)

Trusting God does not mean abandoning reason; it means recognizing its limits. God has given us minds to think, discern, and learn. But our understanding is not complete. We see only a small part of the picture, while God sees the beginning, the middle, and the end. What appears wise from our perspective may not be wise at all (Proverbs 14:12). But He promises to instruct us and teach us in the way we should go (Psalm 32:8).

God is perfect wisdom. His thoughts and ways are infinitely higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8–9). Because He sees what we cannot, His wisdom can be trusted even when His guidance is difficult to understand.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, facing the cross, Jesus prayed, "Not My will, but Yours, be done" (Luke 22:42). Though the Father's plan involved suffering, Jesus trusted His Father's wisdom completely. Through His obedience came our salvation.

Pause and Ponder

  • Where am I relying more on my own understanding than on God's wisdom?

  • Is there an area of my life where God's guidance conflicts with what seems right to me?

  • Who needs to see an example of trusting God's wisdom through my obedience this week?

God sees what you cannot. May we trust Him even when we do not always understand.

Wise Father, forgive me for the times I lean on my own understanding instead of trusting You. Help me to submit my plans, decisions, and desires to Your perfect wisdom. Amen.
