Trust – Trust Because I am Safe in Him (365/144)

When storms rage, we instinctively look for shelter. The psalmist reminds us that our greatest refuge is not a place but a Person.
"I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.'"(Psalm 91:2)
The psalmist confidently declares that the Lord is both his refuge and his fortress. A refuge is a place of shelter from immediate danger; a fortress is a stronghold built to withstand prolonged attack. God is both. He provides comfort in the present crisis and security for the long journey.
God is not merely aware of our troubles; He sovereignly reigns over them. Nothing reaches us apart from His knowledge and permission. This does not mean believers are exempt from hardship, but it does mean that no circumstance can separate us from His care. Beneath every trial are His everlasting arms.
Through His death and resurrection, Christ became our ultimate refuge from sin, judgment, and eternal separation from God. He invites the weary and burdened to come to Him and find rest (Matthew 11:28). In Him we find not only temporary shelter but eternal security.
Pause and Ponder
What threat, worry, or uncertainty am I seeking refuge from today?
Where do I tend to run first for security instead of running to God?
Who around me needs to hear that true safety is found in Christ?
Trust grows when we stop measuring our safety by the size of the storm and start measuring it by the strength of our God.

Mighty God, when fears arise and circumstances feel overwhelming, help me to run to You first, my fortress and my safe place and find my security in Christ alone. Amen.
