Integrity – Integrity Honors God's Word (365/181)

Integrity begins with a heart that trembles at God’s Word.
"Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You." (Psalm 119:11)
In 2 Kings 22, when Hilkiah the high priest discovered the Book of the Law in the temple, Shaphan read it and brought it to King Josiah without altering or softening its message (v8-10). As Josiah heard God's Word, his heart was broken, and he humbled himself before the Lord, recognizing how far Judah had strayed (v11-13). Later, Shaphan stood with the king as God's covenant was read publicly, calling the nation back to wholehearted obedience (2 Kings 23:1–3).
Years later, when God's Word was read to King Jehoiakim, he cut the scroll into pieces and burned it, refusing to submit to the Lord (Jeremiah 36:20–26). In contrast, Shaphan's son Gemariah pleaded with the king not to destroy it (v25), revealing a family legacy of reverence for God's Word and integrity rooted in wholehearted submission to Him.
Jesus, the living Word of God (John 1:1, 14) proclaimed the Father's truth and fulfilled it perfectly in His life. As we abide in Christ, the Holy Spirit writes God's Word upon our hearts, forming within us an integrity that treasures, obeys, and faithfully shares His truth.
Pause and Ponder
Do I approach God's Word with humility, allowing it to shape my attitudes and actions?
Am I tempted to ignore or explain away parts of Scripture that challenge me?
How can I honor God's Word through one act of obedience today?
Integrity is rooted in a heart that treasures and reveres what God has spoken.
Lord, give me a heart that delights in Your Word and lives it out with wholehearted integrity. Amen.
