Zeal For God – Zeal for God's Word (365/194)

A heart aflame for God will always treasure His Word. Genuine zeal is seen not in knowing Scripture, but in faithfully obeying and proclaiming it, whatever the cost.
"Then the LORD said to Jeremiah, 'Take another scroll and write on it all the words that were on the first scroll...'" (Jeremiah 36:28)
Baruch was more than Jeremiah's secretary. He became the faithful steward of God's Word during one of Judah's darkest days. At the prophet's instruction, he carefully wrote every message the Lord had spoken and courageously read the scroll publicly in the temple, calling the nation to repentance. His obedience placed him in direct conflict with King Jehoiakim, whose response revealed the condition of his heart. Instead of humbling himself before God, the king cut the scroll apart and burned it piece by piece. Yet no fire could silence the word of God. The Lord simply commanded that another scroll be written, and Baruch faithfully wrote it again.
Baruch's faithful stewardship points us to Jesus Christ, the living Word who perfectly fulfilled the Father's message and declared, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away" (Matthew 24:35).
Pause and Ponder
Do I treasure God's Word more than personal success or recognition?
Where is God calling me to obey His Word, even when it is costly?
Is my life being shaped more by God's truth or by the voices around me?
As we abide in Christ, may He write His truth upon our hearts and give us both the courage to proclaim it and the grace to live by it.

Father, would You write Your truth upon my heart, strengthen me to obey it without compromise, and help me treasure Your voice above every competing pursuit. Amen.
