Wisdom rarely begins with answers; it begins with posture. In a world that prizes quick decisions and instant responses, we are tempted to act first and reflect later. Many regrets come not from lack of ability, but from skipping the humble posture of seeking God’s perspective first.
“Give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil.” — 1 Kings 3:9 (NKJV)
Early in his reign, Solomon stood before God aware of his limits. When given the choice, he could have asked for power, protection, or success, but in humility he asked for understanding. Solomon reminds us that wisdom is not something we claim, but something we humbly receive when we come honestly before God.
Our decisions may not shape kingdoms, but they carry real weight. Choices about relationships, work, finances, and tense conversations form our spiritual and emotional health. When we skip seeking God’s wisdom, pressure decides for us. Stress grows, peace fades, and we carry the load alone. But when we turn to God first, clarity replaces anxiety and His peace steadies our hearts.
Jesus invites us to choose the posture of coming and learning from Him as the source of wisdom (Matthew 11:29, NKJV). What stops us?
Pause and Ponder
What does Solomon’s prayer teach me about the posture needed to receive wisdom?
Where am I most tempted to act quickly instead of seeking God first?
In what decision today can I reflect a posture of seeking His wisdom before acting?
Godly wisdom starts in our hearts when we invite Jesus to shape our responses before our hands move forward.

Lord Jesus, teach me to come to You before I act. Shape my posture with humility and trust, and lead me in choices guided by Your wisdom. Amen.
