God’s Providence – God’s Providence Behind Closed Doors (365/125)

When doors remain shut, opposition grows stronger and the future seems controlled by forces beyond our influence, we feel helpless and fear asks whether God is still at work.
The Bible tells us in Acts 12 that King Herod had imprisoned Peter, intending to bring him to trial after Passover. Peter was heavily guarded, chained between soldiers, and locked behind multiple prison gates, with no possible escape. Yet as the church prayed earnestly, God in His providence worked behind closed doors. An angel of the Lord supernaturally freed Peter from the prison and led him past the guards and through the iron gate that opened on its own accord, leading Peter to testify, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod (Acts 12:11).
Peter did not avoid suffering entirely, yet God proved that no prison, chain, or earthly authority could hinder His purposes. Through His resurrection, Christ has broken every chain of sin and hopelessness (1 Peter 1:3), and because of His victory, we can live with confidence that the same God is still able to open doors no human power can shut.
Pause and Ponder
What “closed door” situation are you struggling to trust God with today?
How does Peter’s deliverance encourage you to keep praying even when circumstances seem impossible?
Whom can you support or pray for today who feels trapped or overwhelmed?
God works in ways we cannot immediately see - beyond locked doors and human limitations - through the faithful prayers of His people. May we be people who pray with steadfast faith and confident trust in His providence.

Father, thank You that no prison, obstacle, or opposition is beyond Your power. Help me remain faithful in prayer and steady in trust when answers seem delayed. Amen.
