Audio - Making Room for God’s Glory

In a world that prizes recognition and achievement, stepping back can feel like losing ground. We want to be seen, heard, and valued. It’s natural to hold tightly to our roles, accomplishments, and influence. But sometimes, the greatest strength comes from knowing when to step aside so God can take the lead.

John the Baptist’s words in John 3:30 capture this beautifully: “He must increase, but I must decrease” (NKJV). John knew his mission was not to build his own fame but to point others toward Jesus. His humility was a conscious choice to make space for God’s greater purpose to unfold.

Humility isn’t about shrinking away or losing value; it’s about aligning ourselves with God’s timing and agenda. When we step back, and allow God’s power, wisdom, and love to work more fully in and through us, it leads to peace, freedom, and deeper impact.

Sometimes the stress we feel comes from carrying burdens God never asked us to bear. The life of John the Baptist reminds us that humility creates space for God to work. True significance is not found in promoting ourselves, but in faithfully serving God’s purposes.

Pause and Ponder

  • What in my life needs to decrease so God’s presence can increase?

  • Where might pride or self-importance be causing me to hold on too tightly to my ideas, plans, or need for control?

  • What attitudes or ambitions might I release to experience more of His leading?

Humility means making room for God to reign supreme on the throne of my heart.

Lord, keep me from rushing Your purposes. Help me trust You when waiting feels hard. Amen.
