Audio - An Undivided Yes

The world often celebrates ambition, independence, and self-direction. But heaven honors something far rarer—an undivided heart fully surrendered to God.

In contrast to Solomon, whose heart became divided over time, Mary models wholehearted devotion. In Gospel of Luke 1:38, her simple yet profound words are recorded: “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” With that response, Mary aligned her future, reputation, and comfort with God’s will. Her heart and devotion to the Lord were undivided.

Her surrender was not naïve. She understood the potential cost—misunderstanding, social stigma, and uncertainty. Yet she did not negotiate or delay. She trusted. Her purity was not merely physical; it was the purity of an undivided heart. She belonged wholly to God.

True purity flows from daily surrender. It is not sustained by willpower alone but by continually saying “yes” to God in small and significant moments alike. Purity grows when we lay down our plans, release control, and trust His purposes above our preferences.

Mary’s story ultimately points us to Christ. Just as she surrendered to carry the Savior, Jesus Himself surrendered fully to the Father’s will, saying, “not my will but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). Through Him, we are empowered to live with the same posture of surrender and purity.

Pause and Ponder

  • Is my heart fully aligned with God’s will, or secretly divided?

  • What fears make surrender difficult for me?

  • Where is God inviting me to say a fresh “yes” today?

An undivided heart does not happen accidentally. May we grow in purity each day as we consistently trust the Lord and wholeheartedly surrender to His purposes.

Father, give me an undivided heart and teach me to trust You fully and to say “yes” to Your will each day. Amen.
